Ocean currents streamed along the surface. They were like rivers, not enclosed by land, but encircling and aligning with other currents. Some of them were cold, coming from the deep, colliding with warmer ones from above.

Others joined them from far away. They began their journey in the sky, falling or deep underground, rising, born in fountains and springs, journeying on together like blue snakes encircled by brown land, resting in lakes before they continued their long voyage, carrying precious cargo with them, invisible to most.

They were  different worlds coming together, mingling for a while until greater forces tore them apart again, gently, ever transforming, exchanging life, mixing shades of blue and green.  It happened so fast and so slowly that it almost appeared as one, almost not to be noticed, like a fading purple night turning into a golden sunrise.

The currents flowed into more shallow waters, revealing a colourful world through a blue filter. Waves rose and broke, catching sunrays and appearing turquoise and light blue for only a moment, until they broke apart again and joined the darker waters beneath once more.

The surface of the sea shifted in all imaginable forms, always changing, like a sculptor made of wind and water, never ready to give their work of art a final form. For it was never done, always restless, always shifting, always flowing away, and returning, finding itself when it appeared in the most beautiful shape, and losing itself in a world of blue again.
