Two dragons danced in the sky.
One was golden like the sun. The other was blue like the ocean.
They circled and courted each other,
Realising that they were from different worlds.
I am a dragon of fire, the golden one said.
I am a dragon of water, the blue one replied.
Where can we find love?
How can we be together?
They searched the world for a place that could harbour both, fire and water.
How could the light of the sun and the power of water come together?
They reached a volcano, ancient and moody.
But the blue dragon felt uncomfortable with so much heat around.
They ventured on, reaching a storm, powerful and cold.
But the golden one couldn’t linger, afraid of being snuffed out.
Finally, they reached a quiet valley.
Here, there was nothing but rocks and sand.
Here, they made their home, cuddled, and shared their magic with each other.
From their union came forth an egg.
A colour they had never seen before.
They called it green and waited for it to hatch.
After moons of waiting, the egg broke in two.
They expected a dragon, but instead, something strange grew from the broken shells.
They called it tree, the union of sunlight and water.
They watched it grow.
Soon, the tree carried eggs itself.
They called them fruits and watched them fall from the tree.
They broke in two, and from their shells more trees grew.
Soon, the dragons were not only parents, but grandparents and great-grandparents.
After many more moons, they were surrounded by green children, standing tall.
They looked at the beauty of their union and decided that their family needed a name.
They called them forest.
After all the love, the dragons became tired and cuddled in the shade of their first child.
They fell into a deep sleep and dreamt of colours and many new things unfolding in their forest, naming them, giving life to them.
Protectively, their first child covered them with its roots.
Gold and blue united.
Sunlight and water.
