Where are the corals, gleaming in every hue?
Where are the kelp forests?
Their long leaves swaying in the currents of another world.
Where are the sharks, shimmering silver beneath the moonlight?
Where are the mermaids, gliding through realms deeper than night?
Where are the ocean’s pearls,
Guiding us like starlight through the dark?
They are gone.
Carried off by the salty winds we no longer breathe.
So, we follow the path of the rising sun,
The sea awash with golden light.
We follow the echoes of waves and whales.
We search for the colour of coral.
We listen to the voices of mermaids,
Uniting all waves of the ocean as one.
We seek the infinite expanse,
All shades of blue,
Calling us
Home.
Our hearts begin to beat to the break of the waves,
And gentle currents draw us near.
Moving so strong, like a dolphin’s flip of a fin,
Carrying us to coral palaces where mermaids swim.
And farther still,
To where the setting sun kisses the sea,
To the realm of endless blue,
Where we can finally
Hear the songs
Of our inner oceans
Ringing true.
Beautiful!
